Fundación Konrad Adenauer Guatemala (KAS)
About us
Liberty, justice, and solidarity are the guiding principles of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS). KAS is a political foundation affiliated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). As a co-founder of the CDU and Germany’s first Federal Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer (1876–1967) brought together Christian social, conservative, and liberal traditions. His name stands for the reconstruction of Germany, its anchoring in foreign policy within a transatlantic community of values, the vision of European unity, and the commitment to the social market economy. His intellectual legacy remains both a task and an obligation for us.
Through our work at the European and international level, we strive to ensure that people can live independently, in freedom and with dignity. We contribute to a values-based approach so that Germany can fulfil its growing responsibility in the world. We want to encourage people to play an active part in shaping the future in this spirit.
With a network of over 90 offices worldwide, KAS promotes fundamental values such as freedom, justice, and solidarity, contributing to the construction of an international order based on rules, responsibility, and human dignity.
For 60 years, the Guatemala Office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation has been actively working to strengthen democracy, governance and promote the social market economy. The office, established in 1966, is based in Guatemala City. It works closely with local stakeholders to encourage participation, strengthen institutions, and promote political dialogue. Furthermore, it monitors regional issues such as integration, migration, and security, always from a perspective that prioritises work in Guatemala. We aim to promote sustainable solutions through political dialogue, civic education, and institutional strengthening.
