AGIAMONDO
About us
Within the Civil Peace Service (CPS) financed by the German government AGIAMONDO develops together with local partner organizations peacebuilding programmes in conflict countries. With personnel cooperation, AGIAMONDO focuses on the power of personal interaction and relationships and on the dynamism of joint learning.
The regional program of AGIAMONDO-CPS in Guatemala, El Salvador and South Mexico focues on the work on Dealing with the Past. It addresses important elements of historical and ancestral memory, as it is understood that the often violent past refers to the internal armed conflict in these countries and to far-reaching historical processes that have involved resistance and struggles by indigenous peoples and societies in general. This often led to processes of state violence also in the present.
Actually there are 12 civil peace workers integrated in local organizations supporting the historic memory work especially in two areas of action. The first area aims to link memories of the past with experiences in the present via intergenerational dialogue, and pedagogical and artistical methods. The second area focuses on strengthening alliances and action networks in dealing with the past. The aim is to create and promote an inclusive memory work for the processes of transforming the experience of violence and conflict in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Chiapas, Mexico into a more peaceful future, transforming peacefully also ongoing conflicts.
